About
Major Global News is an independent digital newsroom covering world affairs, American politics, business, technology and culture.
What we cover
We report on world affairs, American politics, business and markets, technology, sport and culture, and we publish longer explanatory pieces built to stay useful after a story has left the front page.
Two things shape what we choose to cover. The first is a preference for primary material. Central bank statements, regulatory filings, court opinions, transcripts and official releases are public documents, and most of them go unread. We would rather build a story from the source than from three other people's summaries of it.
The second is geography. Coverage of Asia in the American press has narrowed considerably over the past fifteen years, and what remains tends to concentrate on China. We cover Japan, Korea, India and Southeast Asia as well, and we publish those stories while they are still moving rather than the following morning.
Independence
Major Global News is an independent digital newsroom. We are not owned by, funded by or affiliated with any political party, campaign, government or advocacy organization, and no advertiser has any say in what we cover.
We do not maintain bureaus. Our reporting is done from published sources, and our datelines reflect where an event took place, never where we are.
How we work
Our approach to sourcing, attribution and corrections is set out in full in our editorial standards. If we get something wrong, our corrections policy explains what we do about it.
