Bayern Munich opened its season with a trophy, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday. It is the 12th time Bayern has won the German Supercup and the second year in a row, according to Bundesliga.

Michael Olise set up the opening goal and then scored the second himself before halftime, according to Bundesliga. Nathaniel Brown, a summer signing making his first competitive start for the club, put Bayern ahead in the 28th minute when he drove a left-footed shot past Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel after Olise had been tackled inside the box, Bundesliga reported. Yahoo Sports noted it was Brown's first competitive goal for Bayern.

Olise Doubles The Lead

Bayern kept control of the ball for most of the first half, according to Bundesliga, which said the visitors had 64 percent possession and eight shots to Dortmund's none before the break. Olise added the second goal in first-half stoppage time, pouncing after Dortmund's Jobe Bellingham lost the ball in midfield and poking his shot past Kobel, Bundesliga said. Bayern's expected-goals total of 1.73 at halftime dwarfed Dortmund's 0.15, according to the league.

Dortmund thought it had pulled a goal back before halftime when Ramy Bensebaini headed in a cross from Julian Ryerson, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a video review, Bundesliga said.

Dortmund Fights Back, Then Loses A Man

Dortmund coach Niko Kovač made a triple substitution after the hour mark, and the changes paid off in the 75th minute. Substitute Giannis Konstantelias set up Daniel Svensson, who squared the ball for fellow substitute Fabio Silva to score from close range, cutting the deficit to 2-1, according to Bundesliga.

Bayern held on through the closing stages. Dortmund's night got worse in the 90th minute when Bensebaini was sent off with a straight red card for a late challenge on Bayern substitute Ismael Saibari, according to Bundesliga, leaving the home side to finish with 10 men. Dortmund had one more chance, but substitute Maximilian Beier put a close-range shot over the bar in stoppage time, Bundesliga said.

Olise was named man of the match, according to Bundesliga, finishing with one goal, one assist and the fastest recorded sprint speed on the Bayern side. Yahoo Sports reported that Dortmund's Joey Veerman also made his debut for the club in the loss.

Bayern now turns to the Bundesliga season, which Kompany's team enters as defending champion after losing just once domestically last season, according to Yahoo Sports.
