Makhachev, Machado Garry Make Weight for UFC 330 Title Fight in Philadelphia

Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry both weighed in at 170 pounds on Friday, making official the UFC welterweight title fight headlining UFC 330 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, according to Yahoo Sports and UFC's own weigh-in results.

A win for Makhachev, the reigning champion, would give him his first defense of the welterweight belt and his 17th straight victory, breaking Anderson Silva's UFC record of 16 consecutive wins, Yahoo Sports reported. It would also make him just the fifth fighter in UFC history to successfully defend titles in two different weight classes, following Henry Cejudo, Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes, according to Yahoo Sports. Makhachev, 34, carries a 28-1 record and moved up from lightweight to take the welterweight title from Jack Della Maddalena last November, CBS Sports reported. Machado Garry, a 28-year-old from Ireland with a 17-1 record, is coming off a decision win over Belal Muhammad, according to CBS Sports. DraftKings listed Makhachev as a heavy betting favorite, at odds requiring bettors to risk $340 to win $100, with Machado Garry a +270 underdog, CBS Sports reported.

Michael Morales, the fight's backup, also made the 170 pound limit and is available to step in if either headliner cannot compete Saturday, according to Yahoo Sports.

A Second Belt Also on the Line

The co-main event carries its own title stakes. Strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern and challenger Gillian Robertson both made the 115 pound championship limit, setting up Dern's first defense of the belt she won from Virna Jandiroba in October, according to BBC Sport. Robertson, a Canadian fighter competing in her 21st bout with the promotion, holds the UFC record for women's submission wins, BBC Sport reported.

Across the full 24 fighter card, only Chidi Njokuani had trouble on the scale. He came in half a pound over the welterweight limit on his first attempt, at 171.5 pounds, then returned behind a curtain and made 171 pounds using the extra pound allowed for a non-title fight, according to Yahoo Sports. He faces Joel Alvarez on Saturday's card.

Booed Ahead of the Biggest Fight of His Career

Machado Garry was booed as soon as he walked onstage at Thursday's news conference in Philadelphia, with the crowd firmly behind Makhachev, BBC Sport reported. "On Saturday night that belt will be wrapped around my waist and every single one of you is going to change, it's going to be 'let's go Garry' chants," Machado Garry said, according to BBC Sport. Makhachev, for his part, said he wants to keep extending his winning streak well past a record breaking 17th victory. "Seventeen is not going to be enough. I want to be sure that nobody breaks my record so it needs to be 20 minimum," he said, according to BBC Sport.

UFC 330 streams on Paramount+ starting Saturday, August 15, 2026, with the main card beginning at 9 p.m. ET, according to UFC.
