Liverpool Reach Tentative $163 Million Deal for Bradley Barcola From PSG

Liverpool has struck a preliminary agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for winger Bradley Barcola in a deal that could be worth up to £120 million ($163.2 million), according to the BBC, the Guardian and Yahoo Sports. Liverpool would guarantee just over £100 million (about $136 million), with the rest tied to individual and team performance bonuses, the BBC reported.

The agreement follows months of negotiation. PSG had originally valued the 23-year-old at £145 million, according to the BBC, but talks accelerated after what the Guardian described as a breakthrough on Wednesday night. The full structure of the deal has not been finalized, the Guardian reported, though the outlets agreed the move could be completed before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 for a reported £38.5 million (about $50 million), according to the BBC. Since then he has won two Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 titles with the club, CBS Sports reported. He fell down the pecking order last season behind Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in PSG's biggest matches, according to the Guardian, and the club left him out of its matchday squads to start this season. Barcola has two years left on his PSG contract but has told the club he won't sign an extension, the Guardian reported.

A Priority Since Salah's Exit

Liverpool has been searching for attacking reinforcements since Mohamed Salah left for Trabzonspor after his contract expired, and Barcola has been the club's top target all summer, according to the BBC. If completed, the deal would make him Liverpool's second-most expensive signing in history, behind only the roughly £125 million ($150 million) Liverpool paid for striker Alexander Isak in 2025, the Guardian reported.

Barcola scored three goals for France at this summer's World Cup, where Les Bleus lost to Spain in the semifinals, CBS Sports reported.

Iraola Stays Cautious

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola declined to confirm the move ahead of Saturday's match against Nottingham Forest, saying he could not discuss a player who is "not ours" yet. "It is evident that we are trying to improve or try to fill that position because we don't have the numbers," he told reporters, according to the BBC. "I hope we can have good news soon but we are still not there."

A Barcola signing would deepen uncertainty around winger Cody Gakpo, who has drawn interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, according to the BBC. Iraola said he could not guarantee any player's future while the transfer window remains open.
